Senator Larry Craig (R-ID) has so far resisted demands from Senate Republicans that he resign in the wake of news that he had been busted for soliciting sex from an undercover cop in an airport restroom.
By wild coincidence, Reverend Fred Phelps, internationally renowned homophobe, who rumor has it hates fags, will deliver the invocation opening the Senate's daily session on Tuesday.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) denies any attempt at coercion, saying that Phelps' appearance was scheduled months ago, and that Phelps preaches a Christian message that all right-thinking Americans should take to heart.
Senator Craig said he welcomes Phelps because "I hate fags too, ya know".
